Daily Log December 21, 2011


Who was on site
Larry, Doug, Roy, Emily, Peter and Vince (Project Manager–reporting).
The gas guys were there drilling under the road. Steve, the Greensides guy, was there sparking up 517.

What Happened 
The siding team is nearly finished the front gable. The laminate floor in 519 is done. The colours are going on in 517 (two coats now) A gentleman named Dave started installing our closet door frames in 519. The trim for 517 is mostly painted. Basement bedroom floor base started in 517. Larry snuck in on Saturday and started the baseboard in 519. The flooring is near finished in 517 main floor.

What next

Window returns now on site baseboard now on site.   Window return plywood was ripped at Muskoka Custom Cabinets.  THANK YOU.  The Home Depot community grant program is supplying our complete door knobs inside and out, as well as some extra money for odds and ends maybe closet shelving. THANK YOU Chris (Team Depot Member/volunteer on our site).

Still Needed
The closet shelves may be covered in the Home Depot grant –awesome.

Volunteers
Many people have come together to keep this project moving forward, many thanks to you all.  Some more people in the finish carpentry area would be helpful.

Further down the road
The Kitchens will be checked on as they are in full swing. Bathroom vanities are complete and ready. The doors are being ordered and jambs for closets p/u. The kitchen guys are going to install the kitchen in 517 between Christmas and New Years.

All tools required are on site.

I have attached some pics from when I was on site today. Morrison Wealth Management/RBC Dominion Securities Inc. From Bracebridge, they have donated $1000 dollars to the build and put in a hard day on site priming the whole side (one house).  Great job.

As well a group from Royal Bank /Dominion Security came to prime/paint unit 517. They included Dane, Ruth, Kelly, Heidi, Tara, Carol and Janet. Awesome group!

What Happened 
The siding team is nearly finished. Paint colours are  complete for first two coats (519) racks made by Larry in the basement for trim to dry on Ken has finished first coating the trim for 519  The flooring  in 519 is started Rarely stated but much running around by Vincent. The group from RBC showed up and hit the ground running the paint was flying on what a great team they came to work and wow did they! Thank you to all and especially to Dane for putting it together.

What next
Full on flooring in 519, start painting the trim for 517. The colours can continue in 517 Window returns and door frames on site shortly baseboard now on site.

The siding team is nearly finished Paint colours are near complete for first two coats (519) racks made by Larry in the basement for trim to dry on Ken started first coating the trim.  The floor in 519 is nearly  prepped for the flooring. Rarely stated, but much running around by Vincent.
This has got to be tough work!

What next
Full on Mudding and Taping should be complete late this week and off to priming.

We now have casing on site window returns and door frames on site shortly baseboard now on site.  The flooring should get started in 519 Monday or Tuesday.

The Shed
Larry, Doug,  Jesse, Mike, Roy, Marj, Dorothy, Susan, Steve, Alex, new lad Ken and Vince  (Project Manager–reporting).
We had a visit from Fred. Nice to see him and he’s coming back to paint.

What Happened 
The siding team is nearly finished Paint colours are near complete for first two coats (519).  Trims, baseboards, for all rooms were picked up today and on site, with racks made by Larry in the basement for trim to dry on. Ken started first coating the trim.

What next
Full on Mudding and Taping should be complete late this week and off to priming.
We now have casing on site window returns and door frames on site. Shortly baseboard will be picked up: Wednesday morning, now on site.
The flooring should get started in 519 Monday or Tuesday.

Paint colours are started on one side (519). Electricians gave us some light and switches.  Trims (baseboards) for all rooms were picked up today and on site, with racks made by Larry in the basement for trim painting. The gas lines were dug in to the house from the curb.
