Lumber Party

Construction Daily Log, Patty Parsons Build – Lumber Party

Date: September 3, 2010
Prepared by: Black-Thumb Rob Abbott
On Site: Site Supervisor: Frank Fraser
Volunteers: It was a large crew today, so my apologies if I missed anyone: Mike G., Peter, Steve, Brian T, Jim, Mick, Bob, Carol, Tom, Rob, and, as usual, Brian McD.
And Nan got us going and checked on us through the day.

Daily Log: Another wet night and with periodic rain throughout the day.

Another fantastic crew of volunteers. They got a lot accomplished; so much that we had to send the special minimal carbon footprint lumber truck for 20 more studs (excluding the driver). After sweeping the water out of 1014, they: finished off the truss bracing on 1014A, completed a couple of walls in 1014, made the breaker panel closet, started some blocking in 1014, and even made 2 wood boxes from leftover sub-floor: one for useable scraps and one for kindling.

Note: Please help yourself to the scrap wood outside the gate. We're careful not to put any treated wood in there, so you can safely burn it.

The temperature cooled and a breeze picked up so we were able to keep working until 4.

Action/Follow-Up Items: Send in revised kitchen cabinets to CorCan - ROB

Next Days/Week Plan:
Saturday: I think the plumbers may show up to start the rough-in, framing in 1014. For volunteers: ice/water shield, fill in sheathing over soffits and gables, check beam laminations, pocket door frame, foundation PT edging,......

Tuesday: continue from Saturday, Elves in pm?
Wednesday: John, from Martino Contractors will be on site to lay out heat registers.

Volunteer Requirements: For the foreseeable future, we should be able to find work for a large crew. Lots of jobs.

Materials/Tools: 6” Tapcon screws are expected to come in Tuesday (arrange to get from Bracebridge). ABS fittings arrived by courier (in container), GIK drywall delivery scheduled for September 15.
