Having your cake and eating it, too

We arrived in time for morning coffee. So did many others.

What is in the box, pray tell?

There was a surprise! Both Sues had been up to something!

All assembled for the morning coffee run. The last wheelbarrow was put down for the morning break! Even at 9:00 a.m. it was quite warm.

When asked if he wanted to cut the cake, or if Sue, who made the cake (took all night, she said!) should do it. Howard, our fearless leader, thought that Sue should do it.

Sue precut the cake for Harold!

I suggested Howard might use a saw, if he did it.

Well, with all the comedians egging him on,

he made it so!

Measure twice, cut once?

There was cake with the coffee, and a terrific rendition was sung.

Howard made a lovely speech, thanking all of the volunteers. He said he was warned that wee Bala might not have the numbers of volunteers necessary, judging by the work done in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge, but this blog attests to our strength as a community and our community spirit.

Nan spoke of the volunteer spirit of Bala, in that since the first Cranfest event, we have demonstrated how hard we can work for good causes.
