Spring is such a wonderful time! There is that sense of hope as the earth begins to emerge from its winter mantle and new growth appears. Here in Muskoka, we start to gear up for the busy months ahead when we welcome back seasonal residents and tourists. And at Habitat for Humanity Muskoka we are getting ready to build!
Habitat for Humanity is a hand up, not a hand out! Through the hard work, determination, and compassion of volunteers, family partners and supporters, Habitat builds lives, relationships and communities, one house at a time. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing developer dedicated to building simple, decent affordable homes in partnership with low-income families who will own the home.
You may already know about the extent of the shortage of affordable housing in the Muskoka area. You probably also have compassion for the needs of people who want to acquire safe, affordable housing, and help them break free of the poverty cycle. Through your gift today you can help families in need help themselves.
As some may be aware, we were able to purchase a suitable property in Bala last year, and now have two families who are ready to work toward the purchase of their homes later this year. We are assembling committees for the project, named the Patty Parsons Build, and plan to get underway by the middle of May.
We are asking for your support today in order to complete the Bala project and begin the process again for the next build. Mortgage payments for all Habitat homes are reinvested into the building of more homes in communities across Muskoka. By partnering with Habitat for Humanity Muskoka you are becoming part of a community which is investing in its future…a future which contributes to a cycle of change for those who would not otherwise be able to consider the pride of home ownership so many of us take for granted.
