Hard work

Whew. Lots of rain and lots to do in Bala.
I am not surprised at the work being done in Bala. It's just that the canine kind seems more eager for the snack/lunch delivery than the build and the progress being made!

Update on the Bala Build

Pictured are Darryl Moore of Simcoe Block (in orange) and Howard Ruttan, our build site coordinator, who are taking a look at the block foundation and working on the numbers to complete.

Getting walled in

I drove past the Patty Parsons Bala Build on the weekend. There are now walls!

What can you find at the Habitat Muskoka ReStore?

Almost anything!
Builders donate materials, as do those who live, work and play in Muskoka.

This is the famous Larry Holditch, a man whose family roots go deep in Muskoka. He does a fine job managing ReStore.

Last year (or was it the year before?!) there was a fundraiser and he shaved his mustache. Thankfully it has grown back.

You can get anything you want, from filing cabinets, to furnishings, hot tubs, dishes, picture frames, wheelchair, books, records, caulking, lamps, fine china, sofas and chairs.

The ReStore

Volunteers keep Habitat Muskoka running. From those who volunteer time, or those who donate materials. I noticed my keyboard on sale. I was so pleased. I hope someone can use it!

Mind you, those who work there, are to be lauded too.
Ellen Frood, Executive Director. She has such energy and passion for this project.

Then there is the wonderful Larry. He shaved his mustache awhile back for a fundraiser. Thank goodness it has gown back!

Habitat Muskoka Patty Parsons Project Bala Build

These are the photos from the site. Yesterday the road was closed in order for the sewers to be connected.
Four were working, and we delivered four lunches.

Today, a big storm pulled through, dumping water. Everything is soaked and a pump was rented to make the site workable.

The foreman was happy to see his lunch arrive!
With the arrival of a picnic bench, life is a little easier! It is good to sit and relax while one eats!

Habitat Muskoka Bala Build

Hole dug, forms ready for concrete.

This is what the site looked like last week.

Bala Build - progress report #1

Here is the Bala Build site for Habitat Muskoka.

Progress is being made.

Volunteers are picking up morning coffee, lunch from the Anglican Church (right), and afternoon milkshakes, for those working on the crew. A volunteer is coordinating these deliveries.
